Work Motivators

- The beatings will continue until morale improves.

- Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.

- We waste time, so you don’t have to.

- Hang in there, retirement is only thirty years away!

- Go the extra mile. It makes your boss look like an incompetent slacker.

- A snooze button is a poor substitute for no alarm clock at all.

- When the going gets tough, the tough take a coffee break.

- INDECISION is the key to FLEXIBILITY.

- Succeed in spite of management.

- Aim Low, Reach Your Goals, Avoid Disappointment.

Return of Anne Shirley

11 02 2008

BUDGE WILSON and Anne Shirley must have been kindred spirits in another life.

How else to explain Anne’s compellingly authentic voice in Before Green Gables, a prequel to Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic Anne of Green Gables.

“It’s as though she were alive in my head and she’s still alive,” author Wilson says of Anne.

“I finished (the first draft) on May 2 . . . and she’s still hanging around in there.”

Authorized by the family of Lucy Maud Montgomery in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Anne, Before Green Gables traces the story of the red-headed heroine back to her origins: her birth in Nova Scotia to Walter and Bertha Shirley.

Chocolate lovers revolt against high prices

11 02 2008

Any Tom, Dick or Charlie can now join in on an effort to sue the chocolate factories.

The Merchant Law Group is inviting all chocolate consumers to join a class-action lawsuit based on allegations chocolate producers — namely, Hershey, Mars, Nestle, — kept Canadian chocolate prices artificially high.

The “Chocolate Makers Class Action” comes in the wake of an alleged conspiracy currently being investigated by authorities. Six months ago, an anonymous company approached the Canadian Competition Bureau and sought immunity from prosecution in exchange for information on an alleged scandal involving consumer pricing of chocolate in the country. When I was a kid I could buy a chocolate bar for $0.25.If I had a $1.00 I could buy four things.1.A chocolate bar 2.A bag of chips 3.A cake 4.A pop. That was around 1975.”The good old days!”
